As more and more veterans return from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is our responsibility to see that they get the care that they have earned. Earlier this year the Veteran’s Administration admitted that there are over one million claims currently pending, and individual claims are taking months to be resolved.
While recent federal budget proposals include significant increases in VA allocations, putting that money to work providing medical services to veterans has become a bureaucratic challenge.
As your Congresswoman, I’ll support legislation that trims the bureacracy and provides adequate resources for our Central Florida VA facilities to get our veterans quick access to the care they need. I’ll push for programs that help veterans manage the potential difficulties of returning to civilian life, provide them the educational opportunities they need, and encourage our employers to hire these courageous Americans.
