The policies and priorities of Washington and Wall Street have taken us to the brink of disaster, and the middle class is being hit the hardest. Many of our friends and neighbors have lost their jobs, their retirement accounts, and even their homes. While some claim that the recession is ending, our economy is not a chart, or a graph, or the latest statistic on the news. The recession will never be over for central Florida until people are back at work and can afford to provide for their families.

I will support policies that assist unemployed workers with job training and education so that they can get back to work, and encourage existing businesses and new industries to create jobs in Central Florida, not overseas.

Also, I’ll work to pass legislation that brings discipline and accountability to our federal government and gets us back to a balanced budget. If we want our economy to continue to lead the world, we need to be sure that we do not stifle the innovation and entrepreneurship that drives our growth with excessive taxes.  Controlling our spending is essential to keeping taxes low, and keeping the American Dream alive.
